This umbrella stand and umbrella, by Eva Schildt for Design House Stockholm, is unique as it is both a functional design piece and a sculpture. inspired by the artist Yves Klein, Eva uses the sponge which is closely related to the theme of water, as a base. the frame is made of blue steel, which is an important element of the design process. The austerity of the steel is a perfect contrast to the softness of the sponge and the blue color represents both water and the sky. This item comes with it's own umbrella.
