It's not often that we think of wallpaper as art, since it's usually just the backdrop to the art, but Swedish designer Lisa Bengtsson is changing that with her collection of whimsical prints and patterns that are just too pretty to cover. Drawn to creativity and expression as a child, her background in advertising only added to her desire to work in graphic design. The inspiration for her work comes from people-- the way they live now, the way they used to live, and the behaviors and memories that make them who they are. It's this sense of past and present combined that gives her work such a unique, imaginative flair.
Lisa's newest wallpaper pattern is called "svärmor" which means “mother in law” in Swedish. We all fell in love with her first wallpaper, Familjen, and we have a feeling that the shoe-lovers in the audience will enjoy this new pattern as well. Lisa explains the design - "Why shoes? There is something special about a pair of shoes. It’s an accessory we always need to wear, which changes its appearance depending on where we go. Each shoe breaths a history of our life - some of them stay forever, others leave only a footprint behind. What I like the most about shoes is their profile, silhouette and the relationship between its shape and shadow."
1 Roll measures: 21"W x 33'L (10 m)
Choose wallpaper paste designed for heavy paper, preferably a ready mixed paste w/a PVAC content. The wallpaper doesn’t need any pattern fit. You can place the borders alternately, that way the frames doesn’t become static when they are placed next to each other.
