Indulge in 50's nostalgia with Swedish design brand Sagaform's new Retro Tableware collection. Designed by Swedish designer Lotta Odelius, the Retro Tableware series is ideal for swinging breakfasts and hip luncheons. Capturing the era's bold graphic style, the Retro Tableware offers a soothing balance and rythm. The cool blue and green leaves create a vibrant ring of color around these white tableware pieces. Sagaform is based in Sweden, and so the Retro Collection has unique Scandinavian touches.

Lotta explains her Retro series: "The series is tableware that include mugs, teacup with saucers, bowls and plates, or in other words, everything you'd need for breakfast or a coffee/tea break. I have always loved a splash of nostalgia. And with Retro I was inspired by the rich legacy of 1950's tableware patterns. Common motifs from that period are leaves, fruit, and flowers as well as geometric patterns consisting of lines and dots. I wanted to include both- a geometric pattern with some connection with nature. At first glance you might notice the leaf pattern, maybe think of a meadow in bloom, or perhaps a newly sprouted garden. Imagination combined with a highly stylized motif allows people to interpret it differently.Even if the product's design has its origins in the 1950's, I also wanted to infuse each item with a feeling of breakfast and moments spent with a warm cup of coffee or tea. Compared with actual 1950's services where the coffee cups are made for a cup of coffee and the plates are small and dainty, the Retro series are larger sized. The coffee mug and teacups hold more, the plate can hold at least two sandwiches or a breakfast of eggs and bacon, a great weekend breakfast for me anyway. The bowls hold a decent sized meal for traditional bowl foods such as cereal and milk, a fruit salad, or a warm, yummy soup."
